About my work
Exploring Life and Death through
Man-made and Still-life objects.
The project revolves in using different still-life and man-made objects, in order to create morbid yet aesthetic looking photographs. Throughout the project, I have looked at various artists that have embodied vanitas in their artwork, but I was mostly inspired by Peter Claesz.
My main intention regarding the project is to exhibit the link between life and death and how strongly connected they are and to show the “vanitas” symbolism that alludes to the passing of time and the precise imminent death.
When looking at my work, I want the viewer to be able to acknowledge that the photographs integrate well with the theme chosen and the symbols of ephemerality and mortality coming from them.
